About this product

230 V can kill. Get it signed off.

A mistake on the 230 V side can cause a fatal electric shock or a fire, and it often looks fine until something fails. Every 230 V installation must be inspected, tested and signed off by a qualified electrician before it is used. Book our inspection and sign-off service (at our Cumbria workshop, with test results and a certificate).

A compact metal-clad consumer unit for a campervan, motorhome, boat or cabin mains system. The 100 A double-pole isolator is already fitted and wired, so you add one 2-module double-pole RCBO.

What we now fit on our panel builds

MCG metal consumer units are what we now fit on our own Victron panel builds, and they are the boards you will see in our latest Instagram reels. We chose them for the steel enclosure (non-combustible, as BS 7671 Amendment 3 asks for), the pre-wired double-pole isolator, and MCG double-pole 30 mA Type A RCBOs that switch both line and neutral.

The same MCG range, sold separately: 4-way, 6-way, 10-way, 14-way, compact AC-in unit, 16 A RCBO, 10 A RCBO. Fit RCBOs largest first, next to the main switch, and use Build your board to add the board, RCBOs and blanking pieces in one go, or let our system designer pick the board from what you plug in.

When to choose the 2-way

For most vehicles, the shore power AC-in needs only one double-pole RCBO: it gives overload, short-circuit and 30 mA earth-fault protection and switches both live and neutral. That fits our compact AC-in consumer unit, which is smaller and costs less. Choose this 2-way board when you also want a separate main switch, for example so the whole AC-in can be isolated at the board for servicing, or because your installer or insurer prefers one.

Typical uses

  • Shore power hook-up inlet to the AC input of a Victron MultiPlus, with a main switch ahead of a 16 A RCBO
  • A single 230 V socket circuit after an inverter in a small van
  • A garden office, shed or cabin with one supply circuit

  • Enclosure: steel, white polyester powder coat (RAL 9010), drop-down metal cover with retained screws
  • Protection: IP20, surface mounting, raised keyholes
  • Cable entry: knockouts for M25, M32 and M40 plus rear entries
  • Size: 235 mm high × 125 mm wide × 110 mm deep

What goes in it

RCBOs are sold separately: our 16 A double-pole RCBO suits the hook-up supply and socket circuits, and our 10 A double-pole RCBO suits lighting or a single fixed appliance. Fill any unused ways with blanking pieces so no live parts can be touched. Not sure which cable each circuit needs? Our cable size calculator sizes the cable for each 230 V circuit. IP20 means it must sit inside a dry cupboard or locker. Mains work must be installed and tested by a competent person to BS 7671.
