About this product

230 V can kill. Get it signed off.

A mistake on the 230 V side can cause a fatal electric shock or a fire, and it often looks fine until something fails. Every 230 V installation must be inspected, tested and signed off by a qualified electrician before it is used. Book our inspection and sign-off service (at our Cumbria workshop, with test results and a certificate).

A double-pole RCBO protects one 230 V circuit against overload, short circuit and earth leakage, and it switches both live and neutral. On a campervan, motorhome or boat mains system we fit double-pole devices as standard, because the supply polarity at a hook-up post can't be relied on.

What we now fit on our panel builds

These MCG double-pole RCBOs are what we now fit on our own Victron panel builds, in MCG metal consumer units, and they are the boards you will see in our latest Instagram reels. Each one switches both line and neutral with 30 mA Type A earth-leakage protection, which matters on a hook-up or inverter supply where the neutral cannot be assumed to be at earth potential.

The same MCG range, sold separately: 2-way, 4-way, 6-way, 10-way, 14-way, compact AC-in unit, 16 A RCBO. Fit RCBOs largest first, next to the main switch, and use Build your board to add the board, RCBOs and blanking pieces in one go, or let our system designer pick the board from what you plug in.

Watch them on our reels

MCG consumer units and RCBOs are what we fit on our panel builds, and you will see them in our recent reels.

10 A suits a lighting circuit or a single fixed appliance such as a water heater on a 1.5 mm² circuit.

Typical uses

  • 230 V lighting circuit in a cabin, boat or larger motorhome
  • A single fixed appliance up to 10 A on its own circuit

For the shore power hook-up or a socket circuit, choose the 16 A double-pole RCBO. See all mains consumer units, and use our cable size calculator to size the cable for each circuit.

Specifications

  • Type: RCBO (overcurrent and earth-fault protection in one device), double-pole: switches live and neutral
  • Rated current: 10 A, B curve
  • Residual current: 30 mA, Type A
  • Breaking capacity: 10 kA
  • Bidirectional: supply can land on the top or bottom terminals
  • Width: 2 modules (36 mm); 82.5 mm high, 66 mm deep
  • Terminals: up to 25 mm², tightened to 2 Nm
  • Voltage: 230 V AC; DIN-rail mounting; test button and trip indicator
  • Standard: BS EN 61009-1; UKCA and CE marked

Fitting

It takes two module widths on a DIN rail. One RCBO fits a 2-way board, two fit a 4-way board, and so on. Blank off any spare ways with blanking pieces. Mains work in a vehicle must be installed and tested by a competent person to BS 7671.

In a standard consumer unit with a main switch, these RCBOs are fed from the bottom as normal. In our compact AC-in consumer unit (no main switch, the RCBO alone), the hook-up inlet feeds the top terminals and the output to the inverter/charger leaves from the bottom.
