Inspection FAQs
What is electrical inspection and testing?
A structured check of the safety, condition and compliance of an existing system. It finds installation faults, safety risks and wear that you won't notice in normal use, which matters in off-grid systems.
Which systems do you inspect?
Campervans, motorhomes, off-grid cabins, tiny homes, retreats and fixed off-grid buildings. Both DIY and professionally installed systems.
Do you provide an EICR certificate?
Where it applies, you get an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) or equivalent. It sets out the condition of the system, any issues found and what we recommend, aligned with BS 7671.
Why does an off-grid system need testing?
These systems often run higher currents and rely on batteries, inverters and chargers. Testing checks they are safe, properly protected and fit to keep using, which cuts the risk of faults, overheating or fire.
When should I book?
After a DIY build, when buying a used vehicle or off-grid property, before long trips or full-time use, after changes, or when insurance or a sale needs a certificate. Not sure? Get in touch.
Where is it done?
Usually at our Cumbria workshop, where we can test thoroughly with calibrated equipment. On-site inspection is available on request, subject to review.
Is this the same as an installation?
No. We assess the system you have rather than install or change it. We report what we find and can quote supply-and-fit remedial work using our own parts.
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the system. Most inspections are done in one appointment, with results and paperwork once testing is finished.
How much does it cost?
£295, which covers the inspection, testing and documentation. If anything needs fixing, we can quote supply-and-fit remedial work using our own parts.
Do you help after the inspection?
Yes. We go through the results with you and advise on any improvements or next steps.
